Shawn Peterson Murdered Christine George and her Two Children, in New Orleans

September 12, 2013 New Orleans, Louisiana (WWLTV) – The New Orleans Police Department is looking for Shawn Peterson, a person of interest in the shooting deaths of an NOPD dispatcher, her adult son and daughter.

The victims were found shot to death inside the garage of a home in the 4400 block of Jeanne Marie Place in Gentilly late Wednesday, according to the New Orleans Police Department.

The Advocate is reporting that online records show Peterson has a long history of violent crime that goes back to his teen years, including attempted second-degree murder and felon in possession of a fire arm.

Relatives told Eyewitness News Shawn Peterson is the father of one of the victims.

The victims were identified as a 39-year-old woman, who works for the NOPD as a dispatcher, along with her 20-year-old daughter and 18-year-old son.  A relative identified them as Christine George and her two children, Tresa and Leonard George. Police say Christine George has been a complaint operator since 2009.

Officer Garry Flot, a New Orleans Police Department spokesman, said the three victims were found in the home, after a call came in just after 11 p.m. Wednesday night. Flot said the victims were found suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

The victims were found inside the garage of the home on Jeanne Marie Place, between Paris Avenue and St. Bernard Avenue, off of Mirabeau Ave.

Superintendent Ronal Serpas was on the scene of the triple murder, but he did not speak to reporters.

This is the second tragedy to hit the NOPD involving a dispatcher, in just a matter of days.  As Eyewitness News reported Tuesday, NOPD communications dispatcher Paulette Brown is hospitalized on life support, critically injured by a suspected drunk driver, who hit her Saturday night

Edwin McCargo, 43, Charged with Exposing Himself to 11-12 Year-Old Girls, in Newport News Virginia

August 26, 2013 NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) – Newport News Police arrested a 43-year-old man on charges of indecent liberties with children after officers say he exposed himself to a group of girls.

Police say two 12-year-old girls and two 11-year-old girls were at the Wilco Hess gas station near Forrest Drive and Jefferson Avenue around 6:30pm Sunday. Police say Edwin McCargo, of Newport News, came up behind one of the girls and began dancing in a lewd manner.

McCargo was arrested and charged with four counts of indecent liberties with a child under 15 and drunk in public.

WAVY.com spoke to two of the victims Monday. The girls are cousins, who walked to the store with friends to get snacks.

“It all started when we were in the store,” said the 11-year-old. “He was behind her and she didn’t know.”

The 11-year-old girl was standing by her 12-year-old cousin’s side in the store when they noticed the suspect acting strange.

“He was behind me in the store…dancing behind me,” she said.

The girls could tell McCargo was not in the right state of mind, so they bought their snacks and quickly left. But their biggest fear came true. Police say McCargo started following them on the walk home.

“He followed them home,” said Janez McLaurin, the mother of one of the girls. “He was saying things to them. Then he started throwing rocks when they got close to the complex.”

When McCargo started throwing rocks, the girls started to run and scream. They say their reaction seemed to make the man more aggressive. And, that is when he pulled down his pants.

“As we started to yell even more, he just unzipped his pants and he exposed,” said the girl.

By then, other kids living in the complex had heard the cries for help. They ran to get the lifeguard on duty at the pool. The lifeguard called 911.

McLaurin is happy someone was there to help, because she wasn’t home at the time.

“I was gone out of town and came home,” said McLaurin. “But I’m a registered firearm owner and I carry pepper spray so I am glad I wasn’t here.”

McLaurin says she taught the girls to walk in groups if they leave the house, but after last night, even a big group won’t give them any sense of security.

“I would never go back to that store unless somebody takes me… like a parent… in the car,” said the 12-year-old victim.

WAVY.com did some digging and found McCargo has been charged for being drunk in public a handful of times since 1996, and most recently last week. He also was found guilty of driving under the influence twice.
