Charliette Agnes Stalling Murders 16-day-old Child, Jamiah Stalling

October 12, 2013 Detroit Michigan (WXYZ) – A mother from Warren is charged with murder and first degree child abuse in the death of her 16-day-old daughter.

Charliette Agnes Stalling was arraigned today. Only 7 Action News cameras were in the courtroom as she faced a judge. She was charged with felony murder and first degree child abuse.

Police say on Thursday, October 3rd, Stalling called 911 and said her daughter Jamiah was throwing up.

“My baby’s heart rate is going down. I don’t know what’s wrong with her. I was feeding her her bottle and she just started spitting up out her mouth and her nose .. the milk i was feeding her,” Stalling said in the 911 call.

Firefighters went to the home on Orchard Avenue, just west of Van Dyke, and performed CPR, but the baby was pronounced dead at St. John Hospital the next morning.

Police say Jamiah died of blunt head trauma and her death was ruled a homicide. Investigators say the 16 day-old girl had multiple skull fractures and brusing on one of her arms.

Stalling, the child’s 25-year-old mother, was first arrested on outstanding traffic warrants and marjijuana possession.

In court, Stalling said “I didn’t do it!”

Investigators say they don’t know a motive yet for the murder, but say Stalling was the only one in the care of Jamiah at the time she was sustained the injuries.

Macomb County Prosecutor Eric Smith says “We are shocked and heartbroken by the taking of this little girl’s life. Nothing will bring her back, but we will work to bring justice for little Jamiah.”

The judge denied bond and Stalling will stay locked up in the Macomb County Jail for now.

She’s expected back in court on October 24th.
