Rasheed Trull, Darius Morris and Sylvester Solomon Murdered by Gang Members in Chicago

October 11, 2013 Chicago (CBSCHICAGO) – Three people were shot and killed in the South Shore neighborhood Wednesday night, including a 16-year-old boy.

CBS 2’s Mike Puccinelli reports, around 9 p.m. Wednesday, a car rolled up along a courtyard in the 6700 block of South Chappel Avenue, and someone inside rolled down a window and opened fire on a group of three people.

Rasheed Trull, 16, was shot in the head and leg, and was rushed to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Two men, whose names have not yet been released, also were shot and killed. A 24-year-old man died at the scene, and a 27-year-old man was pronounced dead after he was taken to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County.

Police sources said the 24-year-old man who was killed had some gang affiliations in the past.

Rasheed’s mother, Lois Picketts, said her son was in the wrong place at the wrong time. She choked back tears as she talked about having to tell his much younger siblings their brother is gone.

“He won’t be able to come home again, but that’s because his body is gone. His spirit is still here, and I know it for a fact. I know that for a fact,” she said.

Rasheed’s twin brother was with his brother at the time of the shooting, and ran for cover when the gunfire started, hiding behind a garbage can. When police arrived, he came out to find his brother had been shot in the head.
