The mother of a 6-year-old boy critically injured in a hit-and-run on his way to the school bus stop Wednesday is pleading for the driver who hit him to turn herself in.
Christen Jones, 30, said she was watching from her porch when her son DeShaun White was hit as he crossed East Warren with his two brothers, ages 7 and 9, from their house near the corner of St. Clair about 7 a.m.
“A car stopped to let them pass, but she did not stop — she kept going,” Jones said outside Children’s Hospital of Michigan, where DeShaun was having surgery Wednesday. “He went in the air. I ran over there and picked him up, and he was just dangling.”
