September 3, 2013, Ahoskie North Carolina (WAVY) – A shooting in Ahoskie, North Carolina forced three schools to go on lockdown Tuesday afternoon. The lock downs were lifted after about an hour, but the search for the shooting suspect continues.
Chief Troy Fitzhugh with the Ahoskie Police Department said investigators want to find Terrence Faison, 35. He is accused of shooting a juvenile male at the Pine Gate Apartments around 1:25 p.m. The complex is located across the street from Ahoskie Elementary School.
Hertford County Schools Superintendent Dr. Michael Perry told WAVY.com Ahoskie Elementary School, Bearfield Primary and Hertford County High School were placed on lockdown just after 2 p.m. following the report of the shooting. Dr. Perry said the schools sent an alert to parents and there was a police presence at the schools. Officers searched every bus and the school buildings. After the search turned up empty, the lock downs were lifted and the children were released from their schools.
Tuesday after school activities were canceled as a precaution, according to Dr. Perry.
Terrence Faison is known to frequent Ahoskie, Murfreesboro and Richmond.

Police have not released any information on the victim’s condition.
