U.S. Immigration & Customs – 15 Arrests made, 30 Deported in, Phoenix Arizona

August 19, 2013 Phoenix Arizona (FOX10NEWS) -The indictment from an investigation of a Phoenix-area car wash business and its staffing-service provider is expected to be unsealed Monday after people who were arrested in the case make their initial court appearances.

Federal agents served search and arrest warrants Saturday at 16 locations associated with Danny’s Family Car Wash and the company’s staffing service provider, HR Betty.

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents rounded up more than 200 employees — many did not have criminal backgrounds and were released.

ICE says the investigation targets the owners and leaders of the two businesses and that multiple people, including  4 U.S. citizens and 10 Mexican nationals, face charges of criminal immigration fraud, identity theft and financial violations.

“This was not an enforcement of targeting illegal immigration or illegal immigrants. It was a criminal investigation,” said ICE spokesperson Barbara Gonzalez.

Eric Falbe, general counsel for Danny’s Family Car Wash, says the company is cooperating with investigators. He declined further comment.

A message left Sunday at HR Betty wasn’t immediately returned.
