August 12, 2013 (ABC6) Johnston Police have charged Daniel Rodriguez, 28, with killing his girlfriend and her daughter and then sparking an amber alert for a child. Investigators say he broke into a home on Oak Tree Drive in Johnston on Sunday where he shot and killed Evelyn Burgos, 40 and Vanessa Perez, 25.
Rodriguez and Burgos were dating. Investigators say the killings were a result of an “ongoing domestic dispute.” The women were shot to death.
Police say Rodriguez took off with Burgos’ 2-year-old son, Isaiah Perez. He and two other small children were home during the crime.
Another mans photo originally appeared in the Amber Alert, but police now say he is not considered a suspect.
Little Isiaih was found, unharmed, Sunday night by Providence Police. Tonight he and the other children are in state custody and with family.
Rodriguez will be formally arraigned Tuesday. He is being held at the ACI.
